Maximilian’s research focuses on the law and politics of innovation, including intellectual property, antitrust, technology policy, and health policy. He is the author and editor of five books and numerous articles on patent law and copyright law, civil law, licensing law and antitrust law. He is the sole author of the textbook on patent law and co-editor of the 1200 pages “Handbook on Patent Law”.

Some of his latest publications concern the transfer of priority rights, confidentiality arrangements in patent infringement lawsuits, FRAND proceedings and the separation of powers in the European Patent Office.
